The best AI search monitoring tools in 2026 depend on what you need first. As of 27 October 2026, Peec AI documents data protection most fully, with hosting in Frankfurt; SISTRIX offers a German manual and support from Bonn; Otterly.AI is the cheapest entry at €29; Alexandrya.AI turns recommendations into team tasks; and Profound suits enterprises tracking many markets.

Our basis is the publicly documented pricing, features and data protection details of ten vendors, accessed on 27 October 2026, plus our own measurement; we ran no hands-on tests. NX Digital, the agency behind Alexandrya.AI, has only used Peec AI, for about six months, and Alexandrya.AI is our own product. For a switch from Peec AI, see our Peec AI alternatives; for small budgets, see AI visibility tools under €100.

What are the best AI search monitoring tools?

The best AI search monitoring tools in 2026 depend on which criterion you weigh first. As of 27 October 2026, Peec AI documents data protection most fully, with a public data processing agreement and hosting in Frankfurt. SISTRIX includes prompt tracking at no extra cost from €119 and runs its systems in EU data centres. Otterly.AI is the cheapest entry at €29, and Alexandrya.AI, from €79, turns recommendations into tasks.

No points score appears in this list for that reason. The table names, for each criterion, the tool that meets it best according to vendor documentation.

Which AI search monitoring tools do ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity recommend?

Asked “what are the best ai search monitoring tools” and “ai search monitoring tools” on 27 October 2026, five AI platforms named Profound, Peec AI, Otterly.AI and Semrush in all nine readable answers. Scrunch followed with six, Ahrefs Brand Radar with five and AthenaHQ with four. These figures come from Alexandrya.AI's own measurement, 43 tracked prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Alexandrya.AI itself appeared in none of them.

The German-language prompt “bestes ki sichtbarkeit tool deutschland” (best AI visibility tool Germany) produces a different shortlist. Semrush appeared in all five answers, Peec AI, Otterly.AI and SISTRIX in three each, and Profound and SE Ranking in two.

Bar chart of how often five AI platforms named Semrush, Peec AI, Otterly.AI, SISTRIX, Profound and SE Ranking as the best tool

Mentions in the five answers to the German prompt “bestes ki sichtbarkeit tool deutschland”, Alexandrya.AI's own measurement, daily scan of 27 October 2026, 43 tracked prompts.

ChatGPT's German answer suggested comparing Peec AI, Rankscale and Otterly.AI above all. Microsoft Copilot listed only classic SEO tools such as SISTRIX, Ahrefs, Semrush and Google Search Console. Across the five answers the platforms cited 33 different domains, with seoptimer.com the most frequent at three.

SISTRIX appears in three of five German answers but in only one of nine English ones, so the language of the question changes the shortlist. These mentions were not a selection criterion here; they show which names the platforms know today. Alexandrya.AI is named in the answer text for 10 of its 43 tracked prompts, and for none of the best-tool questions on 27 October.

Ten criteria for choosing an AI search monitoring tool in Europe

An AI search monitoring tool for European teams has to do ten things: cover enough platforms, measure daily, count mentions and citations separately, show the cited source URLs, compare competitors and disclose where prompts come from. Selling in Germany, Austria or Switzerland adds four more: local-language prompts with country settings, a data processing agreement with a documented storage location, an interface and support in your language, and billing in euros.

  1. Platforms: count the platforms that run at the same time on the plan you buy. Vendors often offer more than they switch on.
  2. Frequency: daily tracking gives about 30 data points a month, weekly gives four. AI answers change from run to run.
  3. Mentions and citations counted separately: Alexandrya.AI's own measurement shows the brand named for 10 of 43 prompts and cited for 11, so the two sets differ.
  4. Source URLs: only the URL tells you which page or publication to work on.
  5. Competitors: Peec AI and SE Visible allow unlimited competitors on every plan, while the Semrush toolkit detects them automatically.
  6. Prompt origin: your own prompts, suggestions from your website, or demand data as offered by Profound, Promptwatch and Semrush.
  7. Local-language prompts and countries: language and country set separately, Germany, Austria and Switzerland selectable, clear billing per country.
  8. DPA, storage location, subprocessors: published or only on request.
  9. Interface and support in your language: this decides whether editors and subject experts work in the tool themselves.
  10. Billing in euros: several vendors only show euros with a German locale or for annual plans.

We did not score content generation, shopping or product tracking, or crawler logs, because only some teams need them. For what AI visibility captures as a metric, see What is AI visibility?.

The best AI search monitoring tools of 2026 by price, prompts and platforms

Entry plans for AI search monitoring tools cost between nothing and $295 a month as of 27 October 2026, and seven of the ten vendors here start between €29 and €119. That buys 15 to 100 prompts, usually run daily on three or four platforms. AthenaHQ is the only tool with a free plan, and Profound publishes no prices beyond its trial.

AthenaHQEssential free, Starter $295300 or 3,600 credits5 or 11weekly or monthlyfree plan

Prices are for monthly billing as the pricing pages show them with a German locale; Peec AI, Otterly.AI and Rankscale then display euros, otherwise dollars. If you need more platforms than the entry plan includes, you pay through an add-on, a bigger plan or higher credit use.

What vendors document on GDPR, data location and language

Three publicly checkable items decide the data protection review of an AI search monitoring tool: a data processing agreement, the documented storage location and the list of subprocessors. As of 27 October 2026, Peec AI, Profound, Semrush and AthenaHQ publish their agreement online, but only Peec AI pairs it with EU hosting, on Google Cloud in Frankfurt. Profound and Semrush state that they host in the United States.

The AI answers to your prompts are public content. Personal data mostly means your team's user accounts, billing data and connected sources such as Google Search Console. Subprocessors usually include model providers as well: the published lists of Peec AI, Profound and AthenaHQ name OpenAI and Anthropic. Rankscale's privacy policy names both as recipients of prompt texts only, without personal data.

Matrix of six AI search monitoring tools showing euro pricing, German interface, public DPA and documented data location

European criteria for six AI search monitoring tools according to the vendors' pages, accessed on 27 October 2026. The other four tools are in the table above.

Three details only show up in the sources. Otterly.AI hosts on AWS in Frankfurt according to its security page, but stores public monitoring data in North Virginia in the US. Peec AI hosts in Frankfurt according to its data processing agreement, yet uses Firebase Authentication with processing in the US.

SISTRIX runs all systems in EU data centres and keeps support and billing in-house, according to its page on its European set-up from May 2022, but publishes no DPA on its website. All three sources accessed on 27 October 2026.

Alexandrya.AI does no better on this criterion. The website names neither a DPA nor a host nor a storage location, and the homepage only states GDPR-compliant processing. Ask for these documents during the trial, as you should with every vendor marked “not public” in the table.

Ten AI search monitoring tools in detail

The order is not a ranking. First come the specialist tools from Germany and Austria, then the SEO suites with an AI module, then the international specialists. Four tools have a full review, linked from their section.

Peec AI

Peec AI from Berlin charges €85 a month on Starter for 50 prompts, three of six models, daily tracking and unlimited users. Its strength is documentation: a public DPA, hosting in Frankfurt, brand mentions and sources analysed separately, and Actions as prioritised next steps. Countries cost nothing extra per its FAQ, though Starter includes only one. The website and help pages are in English only. Peec AI suits teams whose data protection officer wants to see the contract and EU hosting before purchase.

NX Digital used Peec AI in client projects from autumn 2025 to spring 2026 and at the time missed an overview of which content was missing and what to do after each report. Peec AI has since added Actions.

Otterly.AI

Otterly.AI from Austria is the cheapest entry at €29 a month on Lite: 15 prompts on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, tracked daily. Gemini, Google AI Mode and Claude cost extra; API and MCP start on Standard at €189. Germany, Austria and Switzerland are selectable, the dashboard is English only according to the help centre, and the DPA comes on request. A fit for small teams with few prompts; our Otterly.AI review shows how far 15 prompts go.

Rankscale

Rankscale from Vienna bills in credits: Pro costs €99 a month for 1,200 credits, or up to 4,800 answers, with each platform typically using 0.25 credits per prompt. Every engine and region is included on every plan, and frequency runs from hourly to monthly. Data sits on Google Cloud in Iowa, USA, according to its privacy policy. Teams that need many platforms get the most from it; our Rankscale review works out what “all engines” costs.

Alexandrya.AI

Alexandrya.AI is an AI visibility tool from Munich that measures brand mentions in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Bing Copilot and turns them into content and citation tasks. Starter costs €79 a month for 50 prompts, three selectable models, one country and daily tracking; Professional costs €199 for 150 prompts, five models, three countries and MCP access. Users are unlimited, the interface comes in German and English, and every plan is listed on the Alexandrya.AI pricing page.

Its strength is what happens after measurement. The Action Plan proposes content briefs, outreach targets and quick wins, and each recommendation becomes a task with a status from open to done. Sources & Domains shows the citation mix by source type and your position in the source list. Missing: prompt search volume, crawler logs, alerts, a Slack integration and product tracking, and the API is Enterprise only. The DPA and storage location are not publicly documented.

Alexandrya.AI suits teams that want to turn measurement into content and outreach tasks, with an interface their German-speaking colleagues can use.

SISTRIX

SISTRIX from Bonn includes its AI modules as a beta at no extra cost in every plan, from Start at €119 plus VAT with 100 prompts a month. It tracks Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT and Perplexity, with language and country set per project, and offers a German manual, support in Bonn and EU servers. Limits: one user on Start, no documented recommendation feature, and the pricing page reserves the right to charge for the AI modules later. The natural first step for teams already using SISTRIX for SEO.

SE Visible by SE Ranking

SE Visible by SE Ranking costs €80 a month on Basic for 75 prompts tracked daily across five projects, with unlimited users and one location per project, tracked on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot; each location counts as a separate prompt. The interface comes in German according to its product explainer, and tracking covers 42 countries, including Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Euro customers contract with the US entity, and no storage location is stated. A fit for small budgets with few countries.

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit costs $99 a month for 25 prompts tracked daily, per its knowledge base, on one platform per campaign: ChatGPT Search, Google AI Mode or Gemini. The euro pricing page only shows the annual rate of €94.94 a month, there is no trial, and each extra user needs a licence. Strengths are the prompt database with volume and separate reporting of mentions, cited pages and citations. Data is stored in the US per its security page. For existing Semrush customers, it is the shortest route.

Profound

Profound from New York targets enterprises. Publicly it offers only a free seven-day trial with 50 preset prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, then Enterprise on request with up to nine platforms, SSO and SOC 2. Prompt Volumes adds demand data from licensed user panels, across more than 30 languages and 150 regions. Services are hosted in the US per its privacy policy, and the DPA is public. Built for international enterprises with their own GEO team.

Promptwatch

Promptwatch from Amsterdam charges €85 or $95 a month on Essential for 50 prompts, 6,000 answers and one seat. The pricing card advertises all models, while its page for AI assistants lists four of your choice. The Action Board turns your data into prioritised GEO tasks, shown as a board or a list, and from Professional upwards content agents write articles. DPA and storage location are not publicly documented. Useful for teams that want content produced from the data; see our Promptwatch review.

AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ from San Francisco is the only tool here with a free plan: Essential with 300 credits on five platforms, one credit per answer. Starter costs $295 a month for 3,600 credits on 11 models, with one language and one region, run weekly or monthly per its setup guide. The DPA is public, and SOC 2 Type II has been listed since June 2026. Suited to teams that track many models weekly; our AthenaHQ review asks whether the credit model pays off.

Not covered here are Scrunch and Ahrefs Brand Radar, which appear often in English AI answers. We did not collect their pricing or data protection details for this article.

How to decide between two tools in two weeks

You decide fastest between two AI search monitoring tools when both run the same prompts for two weeks. Trials do not always cover that: Alexandrya.AI and Otterly.AI give seven days, SE Visible ten and SISTRIX 14.

  1. Ask your data protection officer whether a published DPA and EU storage are mandatory. As of 27 October 2026, only Peec AI meets both without a request.
  2. Write 30 to 50 prompts the way your buyers ask, in each language you sell in, and fix the countries. For tools that count locations separately, multiply prompts by countries.
  3. Start both trials on the same day with the same prompts, platforms and countries.
  4. After the first runs, check whether mentions and citations appear separately, whether cited URLs are visible and which competitors show up.
  5. Decide on the tasks your team completed in those two weeks. Visibility scores from different vendors cannot be compared directly, because each one measures differently.

One question stays open for most vendors: whether the storage location for account data also applies to the AI answers they collect. Otterly.AI is the only vendor in this comparison that states both separately.

Frequently asked questions

Is a GEO tool the same as an AI search monitoring tool?

In day-to-day use, both terms describe the same software: it sends fixed prompts to ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google AI Overviews on a schedule and measures whether and how a brand appears in the answers. GEO stands for generative engine optimisation, the optimisation side. Tools with recommendations, such as Alexandrya.AI, Peec AI or Otterly.AI, cover both.

Is there a free AI search monitoring tool?

As of October 2026, only AthenaHQ has a free plan: Essential with 300 credits, where one credit equals one AI answer. The other tools offer trials: seven days without a card at Alexandrya.AI and Otterly.AI, ten days at SE Visible, 14 days at SISTRIX. Profound's trial runs 50 preset prompts for seven days, and the Semrush toolkit has no trial.

Is an SEO suite like Semrush or SISTRIX enough for AI visibility?

An SEO suite is often enough for a first overview. SISTRIX includes 100 prompts on its €119 Start plan, and the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit offers 25 prompts for $99. SISTRIX documents no recommendation feature for AI answers, and Semrush tracks one platform per campaign. If you want to compare several platforms daily, you need a specialist tool.

How many prompts do you need to track several countries?

Multiply your prompt list by the number of countries if a tool counts locations separately. SE Visible treats every location as its own prompt, so 40 prompts across three countries become 120. Peec AI says in its FAQ that countries cost nothing extra, but caps them per plan: one on Starter, three from Pro. Alexandrya.AI includes one country on Starter and three on Professional with 150 prompts.

Which AI platforms should a monitoring tool cover?

No tool can tell you which platforms your buyers use; your sales conversations can. When comparing tools, count how many platforms run at the same time on the entry plan. Alexandrya.AI and Peec AI let you pick three, Otterly.AI tracks four and sells Gemini, Google AI Mode and Claude as add-ons, and Rankscale tracks all and bills in credits.

Free GEO audit for your own prompts

Add the prompts your buyers use when they ask AI assistants for suppliers, in every language you sell in, and see after the first daily runs which competitors ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity name and which sources they cite. Seven days free, no credit card needed. Start your GEO audit
